Pennsylvania: Can car dealerships open on Sundays?
Sunday car sales banned
Pennsylvania makes it an offense to be in the business of buying or selling cars on Sunday.
The ban covers buying, selling, exchanging, and trading new or used motor vehicles and trailers on Sunday. It is a summary offense, and a repeat offense within a year carries a fine of up to $200. Motorcycles were removed from the ban in 2011. Bills to repeal it have been introduced, but the current statute is unchanged.
What the law says
A person is guilty of a summary offense if he engages in the business of buying, selling, exchanging, trading, or otherwise dealing in new or used motor vehicles or trailers, on Sunday.
