Indiana: Do you need a front license plate?
Rear plate only
Indiana requires only a rear license plate on a passenger car.
Passenger cars fall under the law's catch-all for “every other vehicle,” which puts the plate on the rear; that Indiana issues a single plate for cars is inferred. Only tractors, dump trucks and trucks with rear-mounted forklifts display the plate on the front. Dealer interim plates and BMV temporary plates may instead be shown in a rear-facing window.
What the law says
Except as provided in subsections (c) and (d), for every other vehicle, upon the rear of the vehicle.
