Minnesota: Do you need a front license plate?
Front and rear plates
Minnesota requires passenger cars to display one plate on the front and one on the rear.
Ordinary vehicles fall under the catch-all rule for front and rear plates. Collector vehicles need only a rear plate, and motorcycles, certain trailers, and dealer-plated vehicles carry one rear plate. Truck-tractors and farm trucks have their own rules.
What the law says
If the motor vehicle is any kind of motor vehicle other than those provided for in subdivisions 2 to 4, one plate must be displayed on the front and one on the rear of the vehicle.
