Montana: Do you need a front license plate?
Front and rear plates
Montana requires most vehicles to display one plate on the front and one on the rear.
Motorcycles and trailers need only a rear plate. Custom vehicles and street rods may use a single rear plate. Owners whose car body can't hold a front plate may apply for a waiver.
What the law says
...all motor vehicles must have one license plate displayed horizontally on the front and one license plate displayed horizontally on the rear of the motor vehicle.
