Washington: Do adults have to wear motorcycle helmets?

All riders

Washington requires every motorcycle, motor-driven cycle and moped rider to wear a helmet, regardless of age.

The rule covers state highways, county roads and city streets, and the chin strap must be fastened while moving. Exceptions are antique motor-driven cycles and vehicles with a steering wheel, seat belts and a certified enclosed seating area.
