Louisiana: Does the state have a sales-tax-free weekend?

Has a tax-free period

Louisiana holds a yearly Second Amendment Weekend in September, when firearms, ammunition and hunting supplies are free of state and local sales tax.

The holiday is the first Friday through Sunday of September each year. In 2026 that was September 4 to 6. It covers consumer purchases, not business purchases, and excludes items such as hunting dogs, animal feed, off-road vehicles and airboats. Louisiana's back-to-school and hurricane-supply holidays have not been held since 2018, and a third-party guide reports they were repealed in 2024.
