Alaska: Does the state have a lottery?

No state lottery

Alaska has no state lottery; gambling not specifically authorized by law is illegal.

Alaska law makes it an offense to take part in "unlawful gambling," meaning gambling not specifically authorized by law. The only gaming the law authorizes is charitable gaming licensed by the Department of Revenue and the Permanent Fund Dividend raffle; no statute authorizes a state lottery. Governors and lawmakers have proposed lottery bills, including in 2020 and 2023, but none has become law.
