Minnesota: Does the state have a lottery?
Has a state lottery
Yes. Minnesota runs a state lottery, allowed by a 1988 constitutional amendment, and it has raised money since 1990.
The state constitution lets the legislature authorize only a lottery run by the state, and state law creates the State Lottery under a director appointed by the governor. The lottery says it has raised money since 1990 for state programs including education, public safety, health and human services, and the environment. It sells Powerball and Mega Millions.
What the law says
