Tennessee: Does the state have a lottery?
Has a state lottery
Yes. Tennessee runs a state lottery through the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation.
State law created the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation to run the state lottery and directs it to maximize net proceeds. Net lottery proceeds go to a 'lottery for education account' in the state treasury, which pays for education programs. The corporation is a quasi-public body rather than a regular state agency.
What the law says
There is hereby created a corporation, which shall be known as the "Tennessee education lottery corporation."
