Maryland: Do you need a front license plate?
Front and rear plates
Maryland requires passenger cars to display registration plates on both the front and the rear.
Maryland requires one plate on the front and one on the rear of any vehicle that gets two plates, and passenger cars get two plates through the law's catch-all for “every other vehicle.” Motorcycles, trailers, and historic or street rod vehicles at least 50 years old get a single plate.
What the law says
On a vehicle for which two registration plates are required, one plate shall be attached on the front and the other on the rear of the vehicle.
