Idaho: Are happy hour drink specials legal?
Allowed
Idaho does not regulate what bars charge for drinks, so happy hour specials are allowed.
Idaho State Police Alcohol Beverage Control said in December 2025 that state law controls how alcohol is bought and who may serve it, but not what price a licensee charges. It added that even giving beer away for free does not break Idaho's alcohol laws. The state's alcohol rules (IDAPA 11.05.01) have no section on drink pricing or promotions.
What the law says
Idaho regulates how alcohol is obtained and who may serve it, but it does not dictate the price a licensee must charge after legally purchasing alcohol from an authorized distributor. ... As a result, providing beer at no cost is not a violation of Idaho's alcohol laws.
