Ohio: Does the state have a sales-tax-free weekend?

Has a tax-free period

Ohio holds a back-to-school sales tax holiday every year on the first weekend of August.

From the first Friday of August through Sunday, clothing priced at $75 or less and school supplies and instructional materials priced at $20 or less are tax-free; in 2026 that was August 7 to 9. In years when the state budget director certifies a surplus, the tax commissioner can instead set a longer holiday. Ohio's county and transit sales taxes follow the state's exemptions, so they are not charged on these items either.

Conditions
