Oregon: Is there an annual vehicle safety inspection?
No safety inspection
Oregon does not require safety inspections of passenger cars; only VIN checks and emissions tests in Portland and Medford.
Vehicles with an out-of-state title need a VIN inspection, a physical check that the VIN matches the paperwork. In the Portland and Medford areas, most vehicles must pass a DEQ emissions test, and newer vehicles are exempt. Neither is an equipment safety inspection.
What the law says
A VIN inspection is a physical examination of your vehicle to verify the VIN on your vehicle matches the title or ownership document.
