North Carolina: Can car dealerships open on Sundays?
Sunday sales allowed
North Carolina has no statewide Sunday ban on car sales, though cities may adopt Sunday-closing ordinances.
The state's dealer licensing law (G.S. Chapter 20, Article 12) has no rule about Sunday sales or business days. Separately, state law lets city councils pass ordinances regulating or banning business on Sundays after a public hearing, so a local rule could apply in some places. No state law itself limits Sunday car sales.
What the law says
No ordinance regulating or prohibiting business activity on Sundays shall be enacted unless the council shall hold a public hearing on the proposed ordinance.
