Utah: Is there an annual vehicle safety inspection?
No safety inspection
Utah stopped requiring safety inspections for most passenger vehicles on January 1, 2018.
Ordinary passenger cars no longer need a safety inspection to renew registration. Yearly inspections remain for all commercial vehicles, buses, taxis, tow trucks, and three-axle motor homes, and for rebuilt salvage vehicles the first time they are registered as such. Emissions tests are still required in Cache, Davis, Salt Lake, Utah, and Weber counties.
