Missouri: Does the state observe daylight saving time?

Observes DST

Missouri observes daylight saving time; no law to change that has been enacted, though the House passed a trigger bill in 2026.

Missouri has no state law exempting itself from daylight saving time, so the federal default applies. In April 2026 the Missouri House passed HB 1758, which would have moved the state to year-round daylight time once Congress allowed it, but it did not become law before the session ended. Other 2025 and 2026 bills for permanent standard time also failed. The status is inferred from federal law and the failed bills.

What the law says

...however, (1) any State that lies entirely within one time zone may by law exempt itself from the provisions of this subsection providing for the advancement of time, but only if that law provides that the entire State (including all political subdivisions thereof) shall observe the standard time otherwise applicable during that period, and (2) any State with parts thereof in more than one time zone may by law exempt either the entire State as provided in (1) or may exempt the entire area of the State lying within any time zone.
