Oklahoma: Does the state observe daylight saving time?
Observes DST, law to go year-round
Oklahoma observes daylight saving time, but a 2024 law will make it year-round if Congress allows.
Senate Bill 1200, signed April 26, 2024, says Oklahoma will adopt daylight saving time all year once a federal law lets states do so. The act takes effect only when such a federal law is enacted. Until then, Oklahoma changes its clocks each spring and fall. A 2026 bill to move to year-round standard time instead was filed but not enacted.
Conditions
- Takes effect only if federal law allows year-round daylight saving time
What the law says
A. If a federal law is passed that authorizes states to observe daylight saving time year-round, this state shall adopt daylight saving time as the year-round standard of time for the entire state and all its political subdivisions.
