New Mexico: Does the state observe daylight saving time?

Observes DST

New Mexico observes daylight saving time and has not enacted a law to change it.

New Mexico has no state statute on daylight saving time, so the federal Uniform Time Act applies and the state changes its clocks each spring and fall. Bills for year-round daylight saving time have been filed many times, most recently House Bill 112 in 2026, but none became law. The Navajo Nation lands in northwestern New Mexico also observe daylight saving time.

What the law says

DST is not observed in Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the state of Arizona (with the exception of the Navajo Indian Reservation, which does observe DST).
