Utah: Does the state observe daylight saving time?
Observes DST, law to go year-round
Utah observes daylight saving time and has a 2020 law to stay on it all year if Congress and four western states act.
Senate Bill 59, signed March 28, 2020, puts Utah on mountain daylight time all year. It takes effect only after Congress allows year-round daylight saving time and at least four other western states pass similar laws. The western states are Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming.
Conditions
- Congress must authorize year-round daylight saving time
- At least four other western states must pass year-round daylight saving time laws
What the law says
(2) Utah exempts all areas of the state from standard time. (3) The year-round observed time of the entire state and all of the state's political subdivisions is mountain daylight time.
